If someone were to come up and ask me, “What is the #1 app on your iPhone that you couldn’t live without?” my answer would have to be
Evernote. Whether its for my own personal hobbies, work, or just saving interesting things I find while surfing the web, Evernote is my top choice.
So What Is Evernote?
To put it simply, Evernote is a note taking app that helps me to organize my life allowing me to group and sort my ideas, to-do lists, resources and more. One of the greatest features about Evernote is being able to access my notes from pretty much anywhere, my iPhone, iPad, or any computer with internet access. Here is a short video that introduces you to the awesomeness of Evernote:
In my opinion there is no better productivity tool out there than Evernote. It’s note taking capabilities are unmatched allowing you to create simple or complex outlines, checklists of your important tasks and action items, and even record audio while simultaneously taking down those key points in a meeting you may be having. What I’m trying to say is Evernote helps you get stuff done. Point and case.
The Benefits of Evernote:
1. Cloud Accessibility
Every time you create a new note, whether it be an amazing picture you found, class notes, audio from a meeting, a recipe, what have you, once you save it you can access it from almost anywhere. Evernote offers desktop and mobile applications for Mac and other platforms so you can view your notes even while on the go. If you are a Mac user, download Evernote from the iTunes App Store for Free!
2. Create Custom To-Do Lists
This is one of my favorites. You can create your very own task list and keep it up to date using the check-box features in the note editor. Its very easy:
- Press the check-box button in the editor.
- Add your task.
- When you have finished the task click on the check-box to check it off as complete.
I have included one of my own quick to-do lists I made for today.
3. Super Searchability
Gone are the days where you have to remember the title of the note or what folder you filed it in. Evernote indexes anything so even if you only remember one unique word or phrase you can use that to bring up the note containing it. You can also search by tags that you label your notes with. With Evernote you will never lose or forget anything ever again!
4. Collaborate With Others
Evernote has built in sharing options that help you to share your notes with others. Whether you are sharing key information with your colleagues at work or sending your friends and family a hilarious cat picture you found online, sharing your notes is simple. You can choose to share it in a number of ways:
- Directly to Facebook or Twitter
- Via email using your address book
- Create a shared link to send to others to visit and view its contents
What I have shared with you is only the basic foundation of Evernote and have not even scratched the surface as to what is possible with this productivity app. I will be going deeper into this excellent app in the posts to come so stay tuned!
